General Description:  Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is research institute belonging to the Bulgarian Research Centre (academic Sector, PhD awarding). The main research activities are related to the discovery of novel biologically active natural compounds and synthesis of new bioactive compounds, as well. The expertise covers isolation, purification of natural compounds (from plants, mushrooms, etc.), structural elucidation and evaluation of bioactivity; synthesis of bioactive compounds and optimization of libraries of bioactive structures. In the last 10 years, more than 800 scientific articles have been published in high cited peer reviewed journals (Angew. Chem., Tetrahedron Asymm., Eur. J. Med. Chem., Food Chem., J. Agric. Food Chem., Phytochemistry, etc.) with more than 12000 citations, and 10 patents of innovation products. The institute has intensive collaborations with national and international companies.
