General Description: The department of Pharmacognosy and Natural products Chemistry, UMR CNRS 8638 is among the teams of Paris Descartes University the only group with this specialization. This University located in the center of Paris is renowned in Europe for the quality of the research and training of its health department. The expertise of the team covers the isolation, structure determination and synthesis of bioactive natural products. Green extraction and purification technics are developed. The conception and synthesis of antitumour compounds is exemplified by vectorisation of doxorubicin, synthesis of benzo-b-acronycine (clinical trial phase I) and heteroaromatic combretastatin analogues). Antimicrobial compounds have also been prepared.
